Flank or top round beef steak
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Fresh basil, chopped
1 teaspoon oregano
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season steak with salt and pepper; sear for 3-4 minutes on each side.
- Remove steak and let it rest on a cutting board.
- In the same skillet, add garlic and red pepper flakes; sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add crushed tomatoes and oregano; simmer for 5-7 minutes until sauce thickens.
- Slice the rested steak and return it to the skillet; simmer for another 5 minutes.
- Stir in fresh basil, adjust seasoning if needed, and serve.
Notes
For a healthier option, use lean beef cuts or serve over zucchini noodles instead of pasta.
