Description

A timeless Italian classic featuring tender steak in a rich tomato sauce, perfect for family dinners or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Flank or top round beef steak

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Fresh basil, chopped

1 teaspoon oregano

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season steak with salt and pepper; sear for 3-4 minutes on each side.
  2. Remove steak and let it rest on a cutting board.
  3. In the same skillet, add garlic and red pepper flakes; sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add crushed tomatoes and oregano; simmer for 5-7 minutes until sauce thickens.
  5. Slice the rested steak and return it to the skillet; simmer for another 5 minutes.
  6. Stir in fresh basil, adjust seasoning if needed, and serve.

Notes

For a healthier option, use lean beef cuts or serve over zucchini noodles instead of pasta.
