Description
Experience Soft Gingerbread Cookies with Maple Glaze a cozy holiday treat blending warm spice maple sweetness and a glossy finish perfect for sharing
Ingredients
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon ground ginger
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
2/3 cup light brown sugar, packed
1 large egg
1/4 cup molasses
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup pure maple syrup (glaze)
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 tablespoon unsalted butter (glaze base)
Instructions
- Brown your butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, using a stand mixer or hand mixer on medium speed for 2–3 minutes.
- Beat in the egg, molasses, and vanilla until the mixture is glossy and smooth.
- Whisk together flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt.
- Fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture just until cohesive. If the dough seems sticky, refrigerate for 10–15 minutes.
- Wrap the dough in plastic and chill for 30 minutes.
- Roll the dough to about 1/4 inch (6 mm) thickness on a lightly floured surface. Cut with cookie cutters and re-roll scraps as needed; space cookies 1 inch apart on parchment-lined baking sheets.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 9–11 minutes, until edges just begin to brown and centers stay soft. Cool on the baking sheet for 2–3 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Prepare maple glaze: whisk powdered sugar with maple syrup and melted butter until smooth; adjust thickness with more sugar or a splash of milk.
- Once cookies are completely cooled, drizzle or brush the glaze over the tops and let it set at room temperature for 15–20 minutes.
- Serve cookies fresh or store in an airtight container once the glaze has set.
