Description
A hearty and nostalgic dish, Quebec-style beef pie is a perfect comfort food for winter evenings, packed with flavor and tradition.

1 lb Ground Beef
1 Onion, chopped
2 cloves Garlic, minced
2 cups Potatoes, diced and cooked
1 tsp Cloves
1 tsp Nutmeg
1 tsp Cinnamon
1 tsp Thyme
1 Pie Pastry Dough
1 Egg, for egg wash
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and minced garlic, cooking until softened. Add ground beef and cook until fully browned.
- Stir in diced potatoes, cloves, thyme, and any other spices. Cover and let it simmer for 20-25 minutes until tender.
- Roll out the pastry dough on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thickness.
- Place half of the pastry in a greased pie dish, add your beef filling, and cover with the remaining dough. Seal edges and make slits for steam.
- Brush the top of the pie with an egg wash.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake for 35-40 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute ground beef with turkey or chicken. For a vegetarian option, consider plant-based meat substitutes.
