Description

A savory twist on traditional scones, PaneScone is a delightful fusion of bread and scone textures, enriched with cheese and fresh herbs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tablespoon Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • ½ cup Butter, cold and cubed
  • ¾ cup Milk
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese, shredded
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Herbs, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture and blend until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gently stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and chopped fresh herbs.
  5. Make a well in the center of the dry mixture and pour in the milk, gently combining until just incorporated.
  6. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead gently 2-3 times, then flatten into a circle, about 1-inch thick.
  7. Slice the circle into equal wedges or triangles.
  8. Transfer cut scones to a lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Let cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving warm.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, substitute coconut oil for butter and use plant-based milk alternatives.
