Delicious cookies combining sweet maraschino cherries with a classic buttery cookie base.
Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 cup maraschino cherries, chopped
½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add dry mixture to wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Gently fold in chopped maraschino cherries and nuts (if using).
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until edges look set.
- Allow to cool on baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Enjoy warm or with a scoop of ice cream. Can be made gluten-free or dairy-free by substituting ingredients.
