Description

Delicious cookies combining sweet maraschino cherries with a classic buttery cookie base.


Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup brown sugar

2 large eggs

2 tsp vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

½ tsp salt

1 cup maraschino cherries, chopped

½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add dry mixture to wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in chopped maraschino cherries and nuts (if using).
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until edges look set.
  9. Allow to cool on baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Enjoy warm or with a scoop of ice cream. Can be made gluten-free or dairy-free by substituting ingredients.
