- 500g Beef Flank
- 1/4 cup Cornstarch
- Vegetable Oil (for deep frying)
- 4 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 2 Fresh Chillies (sliced)
- 1/4 cup Soy Sauce
- 2 tbsp Brown Sugar
- 2 Spring Onions (sliced)
- 1 tbsp Sesame Seeds
Instructions
- Thinly slice the beef flank against the grain into strips and marinate with 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, salt, and pepper for 10 minutes.
- Coat each piece of beef with remaining cornstarch and let sit for 2 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a wok over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Fry the beef in batches for 3-4 minutes until golden brown, then drain on paper towels.
- Mix soy sauce, brown sugar, and garlic in a bowl; heat a tablespoon of oil in the wok and stir-fry this mixture along with the fresh chillies for 1-2 minutes.
- Toss the crispy beef in the sauce, add spring onions, and cook for an additional minute. Garnish with sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
For a lighter option, consider using turkey or chicken instead of beef. Serve over jasmine rice or with a fresh cucumber salad.
