Description

A delightful Chinese dish that blends crispy beef with a sweet-spicy sauce, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g Beef Flank
  • 1/4 cup Cornstarch
  • Vegetable Oil (for deep frying)
  • 4 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 2 Fresh Chillies (sliced)
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 2 Spring Onions (sliced)
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Seeds

Instructions

  1. Thinly slice the beef flank against the grain into strips and marinate with 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, salt, and pepper for 10 minutes.
  2. Coat each piece of beef with remaining cornstarch and let sit for 2 minutes.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a wok over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  4. Fry the beef in batches for 3-4 minutes until golden brown, then drain on paper towels.
  5. Mix soy sauce, brown sugar, and garlic in a bowl; heat a tablespoon of oil in the wok and stir-fry this mixture along with the fresh chillies for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Toss the crispy beef in the sauce, add spring onions, and cook for an additional minute. Garnish with sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

For a lighter option, consider using turkey or chicken instead of beef. Serve over jasmine rice or with a fresh cucumber salad.
