Description

Delightful French macarons flavored for the holiday season, perfect for elevating your dessert table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (or peppermint/almond extract)
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Filling (buttercream, ganache, or fruit preserves)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients, ensuring your mixing bowl and whisk are clean.
  2. Whip the egg whites on medium speed until frothy, then gradually add granulated sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
  3. Sift together almond flour and powdered sugar; gently fold into the meringue.
  4. Transfer batter to a piping bag and pipe small rounds onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Let rest for 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C) and bake shells for 15-20 minutes until easily lifted from parchment.
  6. Cool completely, then pair shells and fill them with your chosen filling.
  7. Let the filled macarons sit in the fridge for at least 24 hours before serving.

Notes

Macarons improve in flavor and texture when rested. Ensure to allow shells to dry before baking to avoid cracks.
