An indulgent twist on classic banana bread, these cinnamon rolls are soft, flavorful, and topped with rich cream cheese frosting.
Ingredients
3 medium ripe bananas
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup granulated sugar
2 packets active dry yeast
¾ cup milk
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
½ cup butter, softened
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 cups powdered sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
- Mash ripe bananas in a large mixing bowl until smooth. Add milk, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and active dry yeast, then stir and let sit for about 10 minutes.
- Whisk together flour, salt, and cinnamon in another bowl. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture, then add eggs and softened butter, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Add flour if too sticky.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about â…“ inch thick.
- Spread softened butter over the dough, mix remaining brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl and sprinkle over the buttered surface.
- From the long edge, roll the dough into a tight log and cut into 12 pieces, placing in a greased baking dish.

- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- While baking, beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla in a bowl until creamy and smooth.
- Spread cream cheese frosting over slightly cooled rolls and serve warm.
