Description

Deliciously sweet Apple Fritter Donuts, a perfect indulgence with a nutritious twist!

Ingredients

Scale

2 medium Apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

2 cups All-Purpose Flour (or gluten-free flour)

1/2 cup Granulated Sugar (or coconut sugar)

2 tsp Baking Powder

1/2 tsp Salt (Pink Himalayan recommended)

1 tsp Cinnamon (or nutmeg)

1 large Egg (or flax egg)

3/4 cup Milk (whole, almond, or oat)

1 tsp Vanilla Extract

Powdered Sugar (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apples: Peel, core, and dice the apples into small chunks. Toss them with cinnamon and a bit of sugar.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: Beat the egg, then mix in milk and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry: Slowly add wet mixture to dry mix, stirring gently.
  5. Fold in Apples: Gently fold diced apples into batter.
  6. Heat the Oil: Heat oil in a pot to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Fry the Donuts: Drop batter into hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  8. Drain and Glaze: Remove donuts from oil, drain on paper towels, and drizzle with glaze.

Notes

For a healthier option, consider baking the donuts instead of frying and use whole wheat flour for added fiber.
