Description

A delightful pastry featuring flaky puff pastry, rich cream cheese, and sweet strawberries, perfect for bakers of all skill levels.


Ingredients

1 package puff pastry

8 oz full-fat cream cheese

1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 tsp pure vanilla extract

1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Zest of 1 lemon


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon zest. Beat until smooth and creamy.
  3. Slice the fresh strawberries and set them aside.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll out your puff pastry to about a quarter-inch thickness.
  5. Cut the puff pastry into rectangles, about 4×6 inches.
  6. Place a generous tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each rectangle, followed by a few slices of strawberries. Fold the corners of the pastry towards the center and pinch to seal.
  7. Brush the tops of the assembled Danishes with the beaten egg.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden and puffed.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Serve warm, optionally dusted with powdered sugar.

Notes

Serve with coffee or tea for a delightful breakfast or snack. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days.
