Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Gather all your ingredients and preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, and baking soda.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream the unsalted butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and molasses until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  6. On a floured surface, roll the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness and cut into stick shapes.
  7. Place on a lined baking sheet and bake for about 15-20 minutes or until lightly golden.
  8. Allow to cool on a wire rack before serving.
