Delicious, chewy licorice ropes made with Kool-Aid, allowing for vibrant flavors without the guilt of processed ingredients.

Ingredients

Kool-Aid Drink Mix

Granulated Sugar

Corn Syrup

Water

Gelatin

Black Food Coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Gather all your ingredients and tools—small saucepan, mixing spoon, and a silicone mold or parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine Kool-Aid drink mix and granulated sugar; stir well.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine corn syrup and water, stirring until heated but not boiling.
  4. Gradually add the dry mixture to the corn syrup, stirring continuously until smooth.
  5. Add gelatin, stirring until thoroughly incorporated.
  6. Pour the mixture into a mold or onto parchment; spread to desired thickness.
  7. Allow the licorice to cool for 2-3 hours until set and firm.
  8. Once set, cut into strips and enjoy!

Notes

For a vegetarian option, use agar-agar instead of gelatin. Experiment with different flavors of Kool-Aid for variety.
