- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and granulated sugar. Cream until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).
- Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Using a small cookie scoop or tablespoon, portion and roll the dough into balls about the size of a walnut. Place them on the prepared baking sheets.
- Gently press down on each dough ball to flatten slightly.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let the cookies cool on the sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Allow butter to soften at room temperature before starting for best results. Store cookies in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
