1 loaf of Italian bread
1 pound of ribeye steak
1 onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
2 cups provolone cheese
3 tablespoons of butter
4 cloves of garlic, minced
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Ingredients: Finely chop the onion and green bell pepper. Slice the ribeye steak into thin strips.
- Sauté the Vegetables: In a large skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the onion and bell pepper, sauté for about 5 minutes.
- Cook the Steak: Add the sliced ribeye, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned.
- Mix in the Cheese: Remove from heat and stir in 1 ½ cups of provolone cheese until melted.
- Prepare the Garlic Bread: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the Italian bread in half and brush the inside with a butter-garlic mixture.
- Stuff the Loaf: Divide the cheesesteak mixture evenly between the two halves and top with remaining cheese.
- Bake: Place the stuffed loaf on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly.
- Serve: Remove from the oven, slice, and serve warm.
Notes
For a healthier alternative, use leaner cuts of meat or whole wheat bread. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
